The Short Answer

XFormer, Lagree, and Megaformer are all part of the same family of slow, high-intensity, low-impact workouts on a spring-loaded machine with a moving carriage. The differences are mostly branding: Lagree is the training method, the Megaformer is the machine it's taught on, and the XFormer is a comparable megaformer-style machine.

In practice, the workouts feel very similar — continuous time under tension, full-body strength, and no impact on your joints. If you've loved a Lagree or Megaformer class, you'll love the XFormer. At Remix Modern Pilates in Boca Raton, every class is taught on the XFormer.

Good to Know

XFormer, Lagree & Megaformer, answered

Is XFormer the same as Lagree?

They are very close cousins. Lagree is a training method built around slow, high-intensity, low-impact movement on a large spring-loaded carriage machine. XFormer is another machine in that same family with the same style of workout. If you enjoy Lagree, you will feel right at home on the XFormer.

Is the XFormer the same as the Megaformer?

They are different brands of the same type of machine. The Megaformer is the machine used for the Lagree method; the XFormer is a comparable megaformer-style machine. Both use a moving carriage and adjustable spring resistance for a full-body, low-impact workout.

Is XFormer as hard as Lagree or Megaformer classes?

Yes — all three deliver a high-intensity, time-under-tension workout that is low-impact on the joints. The resistance is adjustable, so any of them scales from beginner to advanced.

Which is best for beginners?

Any of them, if the instructors guide you well. At Remix, classes are capped at 10 machines so your instructor sets up your XFormer and coaches every movement — an easy place to start whether or not you have tried Lagree or a Megaformer before.

Where can I take XFormer (megaformer-style) classes in Boca Raton?

At Remix Modern Pilates, 125 SE Mizner Blvd, Suite 14 in Royal Palm Place, downtown Boca Raton. We are an XFormer-only studio, open daily 6:00 AM to 7:30 PM. New clients start with Two Weeks Unlimited for $79. Call 561-705-0775 with questions.
