Remix Pilates

There’s a lot of noise out there about what Pilates is and who it’s for.

Let’s break down what’s real and what’s just rumor.

At Remix, we’ve seen how powerful Pilates can be when it’s taught with intention, creativity, and accessibility. But we also know the misconceptions that keep people from stepping into the studio.

Here are five of the most common Pilates myths and the truth behind each one.

01 / You have to be flexible to do Pilates.

You don’t need to touch your toes to get started. Pilates is about creating space, mobility, and connection. Flexibility comes with time and consistency. Your body doesn’t have to look or move a certain way to belong in class.

02 / The Reformer looks complicated

Yes, it has springs and straps. But it’s not as complex as it seems. The Reformer is designed to support your body and enhance your practice. It meets you where you are and offers resistance or assistance where you need it most.

If you’re new, or even if you just want a refresher, let your instructor know before class. We’ll walk you through how it works and make sure you feel confident and comfortable from the start.

03 / Pilates isn’t a real workout

We could get why people think this. Pilates can look graceful from the outside. But the truth is, it’s a full-body, strength-building, core-focused method that delivers real results. It’s low-impact, but it challenges your muscles in deep, effective ways. You’ll build strength, improve mobility, and walk out feeling stronger, more aligned, and more connected to your body. Yes, it works, and yes, you’ll feel it.

04 / It’s only for women

This is one of the most common misconceptions, and it couldn’t be further from the truth. Pilates was originally developed by a man and designed to support strength, athletic performance, and functional movement. It’s a method that benefits all bodies, regardless of gender, age, or experience level. At Remix, our classes are built for real people with real goals, whatever that looks like for you.

05 / All Pilates studios are the same

Not quite. Remix was built from a genuine love for the practice, and a vision to do it differently. We honor the structure and purpose of classical Pilates, but layer in creativity, music, and modern flow to make each class feel fresh, intentional, and never one-size-fits-all. Every instructor brings their own unique rhythm, and every class is designed to meet you where you are. This isn’t a cookie-cutter experience. It’s a Remix.

The Remix Difference

We believe movement should feel good in your body and make sense for your life. That means no pressure to perform, no competition, and no expectations beyond showing up as you are.

Some of our clients come to Remix every single day because this is their main form of movement. Others weave it into their routine between strength training, long runs, or rest days. However you show up, there’s space for you here.

We’re not here to fit you into a mold. We’re here to help you move better, feel stronger, and leave more connected than when you walked in.
